What is the the Confident Kids & Teens program?
The highly successful Confident Kids and Teens is a program for children and teens aged 5-14 years, based on the well-researched theory and techniques of Cognitive-behavioural therapy and Mindfulness practice.
The aim of both programs is to help kids and teens learn essential life skills to reduce worries, fears, anxiety, stress, deal with friendship issues and boost their confidence, self-esteem and resilience so that they can reach their full potential.
What makes the Confident Kids program unique?
1. Informed by the latest scientific research.
The program is theoretically derived and incorporates the latest scientific research in the fields of Mindfulness training, social and emotional learning (SEL), positive psychology and Cognitive-behavioural therapy.
2. Designed to appeal to today's kids and teens.
We don't ask kids and teens to fill in workbooks that remind them of school. We know from experience that today's kids and teens learn best from a variety of engaging mediums such as film, music, song, role play and visual presentations. We focus on inter-active sessions that use a combination of games, reading, craft, relaxation techniques and Life coaching.
3. We support the whole family.
We are committed to supporting your whole family. Our team are passionate, motivated and genuinely care about making a difference in every child's family life. We provide ongoing email support throughout the program, access to additional resources and opportunities for you to reach your potential as a parent.
4. We deliver results.
Parents and kids alike tell us repeatedly that the program has changed their family life in many positive ways and that their child's confidence and self-esteem has improved. Our growth is largely due to parents recommending the program to friends and parents in the community and the fact that we consistently deliver results through excellence in program delivery.

Who created the program?
The Confident Kids and Teens programs were developed by Positive Families principal Psychologist, Larne Wellington. Larne developed the program in 2006 in response to parents seeking practical tools to boost their child's confidence and resilience. She also recognised the growing need to teach kids relaxation skills to help them cope with family life, school and friends. Being a keen meditator for over 10 years, Larne is passionate about teaching mindful awareness to kids in age-appropriate ways.
Larne is the Program Director of the Confident Kids program which is only available at Positive Families.

Why do we need the Confident Kids and Teens programs?
Research shows that kids need an academic education and a social and emotional education. If they get both, they are more likely to be successful in school and in life.
Many kids need help to understand the way their minds work to enable them to be happy, confident and resilient. Through age appropriate games and activities we aim to enhance their motivation and problem-solving skills.
How many are in the Group?
Places are strictly limited to a maximum of 6 children to ensure lots of one-on-one attention and more opportunities for kids to interact and feel comfortable
How do we get started?
Since all children are different and have different needs, we recommend that parents attend a one hour pre-group consultation from where we can determine the best approach for your child.
This consultation provides you with an opportunity to discuss your child's needs and goals and gain helpful feedback and strategies. It also involves completing an Child Emotional Literacy checklist which forms the basis for future directions. The cost of the consultation is $150.00 (Private health fund rebates and Medicare rebates are available). Please contact us to arrange your pre-group consultation .
